As a core thermal processing equipment in the building materials, metallurgical and chemical industries, the operational performance of a rotary kiln directly impacts production efficiency, product quality and equipment safety. Forced ventilation and negative pressure control are critical technical requirements for ensuring the stable and efficient operation of rotary kilns, playing an irreplaceable role in the safe and economical operation of the entire production system.

Maintaining a negative pressure environment in the rotary kiln is a prerequisite for achieving complete combustion of pulverized coal and efficient decomposition of calcium carbonate. Only by sustaining negative pressure can the flame maintain a stable shape and length, supplying sufficient oxygen for pulverized coal combustion and avoiding issues such as incomplete combustion and energy waste caused by oxygen deficiency. Meanwhile, the negative pressure environment enables the timely discharge of flue gas generated from pulverized coal combustion and carbon dioxide released during calcium carbonate decomposition, preventing the accumulation of exhaust gas within the kiln. If the exhaust gas fails to be discharged in a timely manner, the partial pressure of carbon dioxide in the kiln will rise continuously, directly inhibiting the decomposition reaction of calcium carbonate, slowing down or even halting the decomposition process, and seriously affecting product quality and production progress. Through forced ventilation, the carbon dioxide content in the exhaust gas can be reduced by approximately 2%, and the decomposition time of calcium carbonate can be shortened by about 10%, significantly enhancing production efficiency and resource utilization.

Forced ventilation also serves as an important guarantee for protecting the core components of rotary kilns and prolonging their service life. Key components such as the kiln tail sealing device, kiln shell and sight hole operate in high-temperature and high-pressure environments. Without forced ventilation under negative pressure, pulverized coal cannot burn properly and a stable flame cannot form, leading to abnormal local temperature rises. This will not only damage the sealing device and the refractory lining of the kiln shell but also burn out auxiliary components like the sight hole, increasing equipment maintenance costs and downtime. Standardized ventilation operations can effectively balance the temperature and pressure inside the kiln, reduce high-temperature corrosion and mechanical wear, lower the probability of equipment failures and ensure production continuity.

In addition, rational forced ventilation can optimize production energy consumption and environmental protection performance indicators. Incomplete combustion not only wastes fuel but also increases the emission of harmful gases. Negative pressure ventilation promotes the complete combustion of pulverized coal, reducing the production of incomplete combustion products, which lowers energy consumption and alleviates environmental protection pressure, aligning with the development trend of green and low-carbon industrial production. Meanwhile, a stable negative pressure environment avoids production abnormalities caused by pressure fluctuations, ensuring the precise control of process parameters and providing a solid foundation for the stability of product quality.

In summary, forced ventilation for rotary kilns is not a simple operational requirement but a key process throughout the entire production flow. Strictly implementing the specifications of forced ventilation can not only improve combustion and decomposition efficiency and reduce production costs but also protect equipment safety and prevent production risks. It is a core guarantee for achieving the efficient, stable and green operation of rotary kilns, and of great significance for enterprises to enhance their core competitiveness and promote the high-quality development of industrial production.
